A lot of my titles are lines from movies or books.
There’s a popular British novel called “A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian”.
I can read a little of bit of Cyrillic but I hardly know any Ukrainian.

It was the first day of school and so lots of youngsters and high school kids were dressed up in traditional Ukrainian outfits (which might confusingly appear to resemble French maid uniforms).

I searched low and high for restaurants were I could try chicken kiev. Found a nice restaurant (they played black & white soviet propaganda shows on TVs in the restaurant) but the chicken kiev wasn’t very good.

Ukraine is not at all tourist-friendly. (Not that is necessarily a bad thing). Some of the people I encountered in Kiev weren’t the nicest. A few people tried to pick my pockets on the metro. Fortunately they didn’t get anything.

I second Deepak’s questions.

Based on the title, I’d wondered if the post would be in Ukrainian. It’s just as well since I know Cyrillic as well as I do Greek–not at all.

Comrade Lenin’s makeover was intersting.

Hi Aidan, back up to the pictures of the colourful tanks….why are there French-maid adorned ladies milling about? And, more importantly, were there any more novelty restaurants?

Do you mean to say the people of Kiev are not friendly, or it is not tourist-friendly?
